Gate 8 is part of the Tonsley Innovation Centre.
It is reached easily from the eastern end of Alawoona Avenue, Clovelly Park.
Once you have gone over the train crossing at Tonsley Station, head to the traffic lights. Turn right, then about 100 metres on, turn hard left to get into the car park. Gate 8 is diagonally right at the far end of the car park. It is well lit, next to a large shed-like structure ( the Boiler Room) and at the base of wide well lit stairs. A small grassy oval, also edge lit, is at the base of the stairs.
Gate 8 may be reached from South Road, by navigating to the Tonsley entrance ( on the same exit as the Blackwood one, just BEFORE the Expressway entrance, if you are coming from town. If you are heading to Adelaide, the entrance is a turn left after passing under the Ayliffe Road bridge.)
If you use the South Road entrance, you will need to go 'around the block', turning right, then left, to get to the traffic lights. Use the lit up Flinders building as a guide, and keep going past it.
If you wish, you can park at the Flinders building area, which is gate 1, and walk west through the complex to get to gate 8. (about 300 m)
TOILETS/WATER
These are card controlled, and can be a fair hike from where we are working, so ask me as you feel the need.
They are very close to gate 1, by the Micro X building. They are also the best spaces to get water if you forgot to bring your own. There are no water fountains or taps accessible in the public areas.
SECURITY
The security team welcomes us and has camera coverage plus walking patrols up till 10 pm each night. The entire complex is well lit 24/7 and is frequented after 6 pm by unicyclists, scooter riders, model car (Scalectrix type) fans, skaters, cyclists, dog walkers, runners, and squash players. There is even a small gym zone in the center of the complex, which is free and open to all. Although you will see people moving around, they could not care less about us and never cause any worry. We have many safe spaces to work in and everyone is polite and cooperative.
GETTING LOST
Well done if you didn't...Tonsley is huge and on jam nights we tend to wander. In lesson times for the first 10 minutes I can always be found at Gate 8. However, if you get lost, here is my number.
